MENINGKATKAN KEMATANGAN PSIKOSOSIAL PADA ANAK DENGAN GANGGUAN SELECTIVE MUTISM
Abstract
Ketika seorang anak tampak enggan untuk berbicara atau bahkan mengekspresikan dirinya di suatu lingkungan sosial tertentu, seringkali anak tersebut dianggap sebagai pemalu dan hal ini seringkali mulai tampak pada usia dini atau pada usia pra-sekolah (2-6 tahun). Pada kenyataannya, beberapa peneliti mengungkapkan bahwa perilaku tersebut tidak selalu dapat digolongkan ke dalam sifat pemalu namun terdapat kemungkinan anak tersebut mengalami gangguan selective mutism (SM). Diperlukan adanya pemahaman dan kepekaan dari orang-orang dewasa di sekitar mereka untuk dapat membedakan antara anak yang pemalu dengan selective mutism. Terdapat empat tipe selective mutism dengan masing-masing perilakunya yang tampak jelas. Adapun penulisan artikel ini bertujuan agar masyarakat luas dan para tenaga profesional di bidang perkembangan anak meningkatkan pemahaman dan kepedulian terhadap anak-anak dengan selective mutism, sehingga dapat diperoleh penanganan secara tepat dan sejak dini terutama dalam hal membantu meningkatkan kematangan psikososial, yang tanpa disadari dapat mempengaruhi proses akademik mereka.ÂOpen Access
